Institut Agronomique Méditerranéen de Montpellier (IAMM)
The Institut Agronomique Méditerranéen de Montpellier (Montpellier Institute of Agricultural Economics, IAMM) is an international institute of further education, cooperation and research It belongs to the Centre International des Hautes Études Agronomiques Méditerranéennes (International Centre for Advanced Mediterranean Agronomic Studies, CIHEAM), an intergovernmental organisation created in 1962 via an agreement ratified by the governments of the 13 member countries.
The IAMM helps to produce the knowledge and expertise that are essential for training managers in agriculture, food and sustainable development in the Mediterranean. It also contributes to the development of countries in and around the region.
Since its inception, the IAMM has aimed to train new generations of decision-makers in the agriculture and food industries. In order to do this, it mobilises an international body of resident or visiting teachers and researchers – all recognised experts in their fields.
Specialising in the economy, society and management, the IAMM is a key player in Mediterranean economic and rural development. Its researchers form networks to work on numerous training, research and cooperation projects. In this extraordinary age of science, the IAMM is helping to build a new university of agronomics in Montpellier and is playing a crucial role as an interface between Europe and the Mediterranean.
